Fund Manager's view
The equity exposure in the Principal Smart Equity Fund depends on the valuation of the markets, the more expensive the market, the lower is the equity exposure. Hence the fund buys stocks when the markets are cheap and cuts exposure when they are expensive. Currently the equity exposure is around 20% (Data as of Sept. 29, 2016). Hence, if there is a sharp correction in the markets, the fund would add to equity exposure at the lower levels which would help the fund as we remain bullish on equity over the medium term.
