HDFC Life has announced a defined benefit health insurance plan that offers a lump sum payout once the claim is filed. Usage of this amount is at the policyholder's discretion. The policyholder can choose between daily hospitalisation cash benefit, critical illness coverage and surgical expenses reimbursement, a combination of any two of these benefits or include all three under a single cover.

 

The product offers a single premium option, where the policyholder can buy a policy with a 5-year tenure at one go. Alternatively, they can opt for annual payment mode.

 Birla Sun Life Insurance has launched SecurePlus, a non-participating endowment policy that offers regular income post the premium paying term. The minimum premium payment term is 12 years.In case the policyholder dies during this period, the dependents will receive the sum assured (double the sum assured in case of accidental death). In case of the policyholder's demise during the payout period, the income payouts will continue as scheduled.

 Star Health and Allied Insurance has added Gold plan, a new variant to its super surplus individual and floater policies. The new top-up plan will get triggered once the policyholder's claim exceeds the regular cover or defined limit. Since this is a super top-up product, the defined limit can be from one single hospitalisation or multiple hospitalisations at different points of time during the policy period.

 

The maximum cover is `25 lakh, without any sub-limits on room rent. The maximum age at entry is capped at 65 years, but pre-medical check-ups are waived for all.
